Accessibility
Last updated: March 2026
Vidgest is built to be usable by everyone. We believe that converting video into searchable text is itself an accessibility feature — making audio and video content available to people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or prefer reading. Beyond that, we have designed Vidgest to work well with the assistive technologies built into macOS.
Supported Accessibility Features
🗣
VoiceOver
Every button, field, and control in Vidgest has a proper accessibility label. Section headers support VoiceOver heading navigation (VO+Cmd+H). Dynamic content changes — like AI streaming status, usage limits, and API test results — are announced automatically.
🎤
Voice Control
All interactive elements have descriptive labels that Voice Control can use. Navigate the app, fetch transcripts, run AI analysis, and export — all using voice commands.
🌑
Dark Mode
Vidgest fully supports macOS Dark Mode using system colors that adapt automatically. Reduces eye strain for light-sensitive users.
⚪
Sufficient Contrast
Text and interactive elements meet Apple's contrast ratio guidelines in both Light and Dark modes. Works with the macOS Increase Contrast setting.
⏹
Reduced Motion
Vidgest respects the macOS Reduce Motion preference. Animations are minimized or removed for users who experience motion sensitivity.
🔴
Works Without Color
All status indicators (success, error, warnings) use text labels and icons alongside color. No information is conveyed by color alone.
Keyboard Navigation
Vidgest supports full keyboard navigation using standard macOS keyboard shortcuts. All menu items, toolbar actions, and primary workflows are accessible via keyboard without requiring a mouse or trackpad.
Inherently Accessible
At its core, Vidgest converts audio and video content into searchable, readable text. This makes video content accessible to people who are deaf or hard of hearing, people with cognitive disabilities who benefit from reading at their own pace, and anyone who prefers text over audio. AI-generated summaries, chapters, and takeaways further reduce the effort needed to understand long-form video content.
